LAHORE: Malik Pervez of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz defeated his rivals with a heavy margin and clinched national assembly seat of NA-123 in the bye-polls held here Wednesday, ARY NEWS reported. Unofficial vote count at all 268 polling stations set up in the constituency shows Pervez in a clear lead with 45889 votes against his rival Hamid Miraj of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf who stood second with 9440 votes. The third major candidate in the constituency, former MNA Hafiz Salman Butt of Jamaat-e Islami, was trailing far behind his two leading rivals, the channel said. However, the announcement of the official results of NA-123 is linked with the final verdict by Supreme Court of Pakistan where a 3-member bench is hearing a petition on the status of the election in the constituency. It was the second win for PML-N as earlier its candidate in todays bye-election PP-82 (Jhang-X), Azam Chaila, was declared successful on the seat with 42145 votes in all the 127 polling stations, according to unofficial results.
